It's almost here. Sophie's second birthday and I am getting terribly excited!! Thinking ofthemes, decorations, activities and goodie bags is a fun activity when you should be sleeping in the wee hours of the morning.
The theme: Cute 'n' Country Garden
Now please help! I am curious what others successes have been when it comes to throwing a toddler a birthday.
1) The first thing I need to know is what time?? I am sure there is still an overflowing handful of toddlers who still need naps. But when are everyone else's nap
s? Sophie still crashes for 2 around 3pm each afternoon. Hmm.
2) Next - GAMES! The focus of the little pack of jumping kids could be hard. My ideals have included:
- painting with washable pain on canvas for mom and dad
- small inflatable pools for a cooling off period
- lunch time! that has got to be a favie!
- sand pit
- Planting a flower in a clay pot for mom & dad or a veggie plant...
Please comment and let me know what other things could be fun
3) Food. Could be tricky toddlers don't always eat whats in front of them. I had thought about doing a buffet of a variety of things. Small cheese pizza, some hot dogs, veggies and fruit. Plus we have the goodies at the end. Thank goodness the goodies are already set.
My lovely sister in law is going to be making a beautiful
fondant cake an cupcakes with me for the celebration
4) Aww Decor. We have the BEST area for the party. It was actually where my husband and I pronounced our love in front of family and friends after we got married for those who weren't able to attend. It is on the side of a barn so large stone wall, gardens surrounding the perimeter. Fresh beautiful grass. Whats EVEN BETTER is that my lovely in-laws place has clean barn that is used for wedding and functions all the time. so if it rains we're still good!
5) the Guest List. Since I am asking attendees to be driving 45 mins to the stunning destintation I am asking parents stay and enjoy the festivities with us or they are welcome to head to Peterborough to shop. So far I have 12 toddlers! Should be interesting.
So again - once more - please comment and tell me your thoughts!!
