A Big Small 2 Year Old Party

It's almost here. Sophie's second birthday and I am getting terribly excited!! Thinking ofthemes, decorations, activities and goodie bags is a fun activity when you should be sleeping in the wee hours of the morning.

The theme: Cute 'n' Country Garden

Now please help! I am curious what others successes have been when it comes to throwing a toddler a birthday.

1) The first thing I need to know is what time?? I am sure there is still an overflowing handful of toddlers who still need naps. But when are everyone else's nap
s? Sophie still crashes for 2 around 3pm each afternoon. Hmm.

2) Next - GAMES! The focus of the little pack of jumping kids could be hard. My ideals have included:
  • painting with washable pain on canvas for mom and dad
  • small inflatable pools for a cooling off period
  • lunch time! that has got to be a favie!
  • sand pit
  • Planting a flower in a clay pot for mom & dad or a veggie plant...
Please comment and let me know what other things could be fun

3) Food. Could be tricky toddlers don't always eat whats in front of them. I had thought about doing a buffet of a variety of things. Small cheese pizza, some hot dogs, veggies and fruit. Plus we have the goodies at the end. Thank goodness the goodies are already set.

My lovely sister in law is going to be making a beautiful
fondant cake an cupcakes with me for the celebration

4) Aww Decor. We have the BEST area for the party. It was actually where my husband and I pronounced our love in front of family and friends after we got married for those who weren't able to attend. It is on the side of a barn so large stone wall, gardens surrounding the perimeter. Fresh beautiful grass. Whats EVEN BETTER is that my lovely in-laws place has clean barn that is used for wedding and functions all the time. so if it rains we're still good!

5) the Guest List. Since I am asking attendees to be driving 45 mins to the stunning destintation I am asking parents stay and enjoy the festivities with us or they are welcome to head to Peterborough to shop. So far I have 12 toddlers! Should be interesting.

So again - once more - please comment and tell me your thoughts!!

It's Time - Training Pants

So incredibly happy for the strangest of reasons. Today Sophie let me know that something was on its way and was able to use her tiny potty! It was such a great feeling as a mom having her hit this milestone. She didn't really understand why I was so incredibly happy but went with it and enjoyed her freezie. To more days that include tiny potties.

I guess I will have to break out the training pants very soon. Are you and your little one at the same stage? Don't by dispoable training pants use reusable ones!! Saves you money and every mom LOVES that!
These cute Trainers come in three different patterns/colours: White, Jungle Print and Froggy Pond as seen below.

TuTu Much

When my daughter was 9months old I purchased one of the Tutu's I offer on my website. I bought it in a colour compbination of Purple and Pink. SO CUTE!! We used it in a photoshoot for a local dance studio's Mom and Tot Class. Now Sophie is 22 months. She found her pretty tutu in her toybox and first she put it on her head soon realized it around her tummy would be even better. Its been a few days of TuTu CrAzInEsS!! She eats with it, plays dollies in it, sports it down the street for her evening walk. I can't get it off of her. I have to say for the small price tag watching her play dress up at different stages of her life is amazing!!

Cloth at the Age of 2

Its always a fun to play dollies with your daughter. They mimic everything that you do! Talking 'Poo Poos' and more. Recently my daughter took a liking to using her cloth diapers on her dollies. It was the cutest thing! Just a photo of what life is like! I guess it is never too early to talk cloth and how it saves the environment and lets Mommy buy Sophie a new summer dress!

Where've You Been!?

It has been a year since I have sat and blogged. The reason isn't because cloth is outdated, it's because I had another Princess!! Miss Abby Louise joined us on March 5th of 2011 after a long pregnancy + a week overdue she graced us at 8lbs 15 oz. Also known as a toddler! Either way, it has been like she has always been here.

If you have been busy too here is what Generation Diapers has been up to in the past while.

I have relaunched reduced pricing to help moms save even more money! We still have a wide selection of great tried and tested products by myself personally. We are still using Facebook as a quick way to reach our clientele. It is especially great for securing last minute orders of Swimmi Diapers or Bio-Soft Liners.

So all in all I have been busy!

Going Pro

It has been a while since I have blogged so I thought...
I should do that today.

It was an exciting day today. I received a call for diapers AND I received my promotional items order from VistaPrint. It is always exciting to receive items that will help promote their business. My favourite item though is my GIANT BANNER! It is great. I can't wait to use it at my next Event.

PLUS I got my Home Office Signage too! So when you want to come to my home and view product you can find me that much easier.

Finally, my business cards. I know that clients are going to love these. Cute, simple and easy to pass along to the inquiring friend. We always appreciate person to person testimonials!

You Ask. You Receive.

We had plenty of inquiry about our Cloth Diapers and suggestions for new products and bundles. So... You ask. You Receive.

GD has a bunch of new bundles and products coming but I want to keep you guessing. It will make you check back more. Ha! No I wouldn't do that...

Here's some of the new things you can see online very soon:
  • The Bamboozle Dream Kit. Saving you over $550!!
  • Undecided Kits. Minimal Investment but enough of everything to try!
  • Baby Registry Page including Free Gift for the Expecting Mom!
  • GD is looking into the Famous Snappi for Prefold Diapers requested by Marie!
If you have suggestions for us don't be shy. All is welcome.

Of course don't forget to check back when all the updates are complete. You'll love what we've thought of!

P.s. You may wonder.. how come these posts are made so late in the day.. or night. That is because my daughter Sophie who is just shy of 9 months refuses to let me look at the computer when she graces my presence. Nice huh! Well I'll show her!

The First Show

Generation Diapers has participated in a few shows. The Market Moms "Mingle & Mocktail" and "The Durham Parent Baby and Kid Show" but on Sunday afternoon I was able to participate as an exhibitor in our first Welcome Wagon - Baby Shower Event.

I was excited and stressed but excited some more. In my past I have presented many projects to clients and spoke one on one with them offering customer service; but never as the owner. It is a responsibility I hold very dear. There was no one else to rely on. The finished product/service is all what I made it to be.

I pondered and thought, and paced and pondered some more. My husband gave me strange looks and offered light moral support. I would ask him questions what about this or that or the other but his ideas just weren't what I was looking for! I would lie in bed rubbing my chin what would be memorable.. what would I need.

I came up with my catcher if you will... Every woman loves chocolate! Attached would be my thought, my proposition. To all moms out there...

Babies should never run out of Kisses... or diapers.
Choose to use cloth so you never do!

The night before the show I fought with the print the 'do it yourself business cards' for my loot bag goodies. Then I had to bundle them. With the husband near by and a baby girl into all my business. The trick was to stuff 120 goodies bags with 3 Hershey kisses each, then to attach two tags all before my little one got random items smooched into her mouth. She's teething of course and it feels so good!

I stayed awake late late late. Must have been 2am printing price sheets and FAQ's about our products so when Sunday morning came around I was pooped. I wasn't sure if I had it all but it was going to be what it was going to be!

With my Bummis tote in one arm and my Mac in another I was off to the show. I was stressing because I was late but it turned out I had 2 hours to set up. So perfect indeed. I had never set up my booth before. So much choice... it was all up to me!

It was a great feeling talking to all the moms there. Being a mom myself and being proud to have something of my own. They say sometimes you loose yourself once you have a child. But it kind of seems I have found myself. I still have my regular job as an Office Manager at a local dance studio and helping my husband market his new business. But this was mine. Whether I made a toonie by then end it will be a great ride!

Late Night Mama

It's Sunday night and I can't sleep. Could be all of the ideas running through my head or it could simply be that I am a night hawk.... NOPE BOTH.

The past week has been a huge whirlwind. I have been busy...
It feels like a lot. But is has been a blast. With my 8 month old Sophie on my hip I am inspired to continually strive to do more for our family and for the environment. I do stand by the philosophy that if we do nothing, nothing will change. The world can be a crazy place packed with noise and distractions but once we sit down and turn off the music or close the windows from the traffic we can take a moment to think about the future and how we're helping. I know that I personally want to be affiliated with companies who strive for the same thing. Are you one?? CONTACT ME!!

It can be as easy as remember just one time to bring the reusable Price Chopper bag to the store and avoid purchasing a plastic one. Or taking the extra steps to take the Aquafina bottle to the recycling bin and not the trash can in the shopping mall. Every step is a good one! Just try and see how you feel after.

Introductions

I neglected to introduce myself...

My name is Kimberly Stewart. I am 24 years old and a new mom. I come from a huge family consisting of 3 sister, 2 brothers, 2 half sisters, and one step brother. It makes for great get together for sure. I grew up in the country and now currently live in the City. One day I want to move back to the country but still be insanely close to the city amenities. I think I am dreaming if that is actually going to happen. My husband, Evan, and I got married in August 2008. It was beautiful. I would do it all over again if I was able to! I enjoy nights with friends, food, and movies. I even make little movies consisting of the best star ever! My Sophie. They are like scrap booking but for the computer inclined!

Evan helps me with everything. He is definitely my ... left hand. Not my right I think I'm the right but he's a good left lol.
He is an arborist by trade so 'monkey' by name suits him. From May to October I rarely see him as this is the peak season for tree assistance. Then in the winter I am plagued with an energetic man who loves his hockey.

My Darling Sophie came in August 2009. She has just turned 7 months old. She crawls everywhere which means she is into EVERYTHING! She has been encourages to walk from her Auntie Mandy so we expect that by her 8th month lol Maybe even some hair.

Finally, our family is complete with our Boston terrier Lily. If you want a dog full of kisses! Get a Boston!

Well, that's my family!

With a variety of colours to choose from these cute one step diapers are sure to be a hit. But of course, like I promised I want to be able to show clients the actual products! Have them touch and play with them to ensure they are exactly what baby and family wants.

So, alas, we wait!

We are also waiting on the completion of our website before we can start to promote! No reason talking where we can't order.

Have you noticed?
We tweet and twitter with the best of them! Follow us
Also, we have an extensive fan page on Facebook. So you can easily share us with friends and Family who is expecting or wants to make a switch.

Until next time!

Tried and Proven

This is an Ode to my Bamboozles!

Sadly my little babes hasn't been feeling well the past few days. To ensure now one looses cookies I'll just say this... nothing has smelled worse. *hangs head*

The husband and I thought lets just giv'er a disposable to save ourselves the wash. Well we had to wash WAY MORE because of it.
Our Bamboozles and Super Brite diaper cover kept everything neat and in place. The disposable couldn't hack it! Poor Sophie was bathing something other then bubbles which she did not enjoy.

Give cloth a chance. Even I was surprised.

Visit our website for more info!

So that's how you feel?

So I am sitting here after an exhausting but good day at work, eating my delicious meal my husband made, Chicken tacos... YUM! When miss Sophie gets s cheerio in a funny spot and... BLAH! you know what... EVERYWHERE. So I guess that's how she felt. It was the same way I was feeling... Poopy.

There is so much to do and time is precious. The house is quiet, the hubby is away training to be the next NHL goalie at shinny hockey but, why am I not doing anything *yawn*

Maybe its because I should nap!

ZZzZzzzZzz

Alright REBOOT! Ready to go.

Too much in one day

After I met with some talented business women in Oshawa, they relayed the importance of using mediums that my clients use. I need to let them know about me and what my business is up to. I have never written blogs before, even tweeted... twittered... whichever... So lucky me! I get to learn in front of everyone.

Whew... should be interesting to say the least.

So follow along. Learn about my failures of multitasking my daughter who is almost 7 months, my triumphs of helping families save a lot of money, and of course everything in between.

All the best,

Until next time....
